To be perfectly honest – I will display a bit of bias in this post. But as the author, I am taking some creative liberties! The bias comes from the fact that The Veranda now offers Wedding Coordination Services (which I am so completely excited about!!) and may sway slightly more toward the fact that an Event Coordinator is a wonderful addition to your wedding experience.

However, I am also a thrift store shopping, plastic baggie reusing, hand-me-down wearing, kinda gal – so I do appreciate the idea of saving some money here and there. That being said, from the pull of both sides of the fence, here are my thoughts on hiring a wedding coordinator.

In my experience with The Veranda I have now seen almost 150 weddings – and not one of them that has hired an event coordinator has been anything less than seamless. We have had the wonderful experience of working with multiple talented coordinators over the years and all have had unique styles and processes – but the simple fact of it is: a wedding with a coordinator is a well thought out event.

My number one reason for suggesting you hire a wedding coordinator: a wedding event planner will guide you to consider details you may have overlooked on your own.

Typically speaking, this is the first time you are planning a wedding – this is not something that comes naturally to many couples out there – it takes practice, experience, know-how, etc. to carry off a wildly successful event. And this is what a coordinator, regardless of their style, will bring to you.

My suggestion in considering whether or not to hire a professional wedding coordinator is this: think about what you need/want and decide if these are things you want to attend to yourselves or have friends/family handle. If there are items you really don’t want to have to deal with – or pawn off on loved ones – then look for a coordinator that offers those services and hire away! Piece of mind is a wonderful thing to purchase!

And of course – (insert shameless plug!) The Veranda has an amazingly talented Wedding Event Coordinator of our own and we are now able to offer both packaged and a-la carte services to our couples! Check out some of Danielle’s design work below at our Lakeshore Wedding Walk booth (professional photographers we are not, so excuse the amateur photos). Any questions about what we offer, please don’t hesitate to ask!

As always, happy planning!
